Start by drinking 8 full glasses of water a day.  It is actually much better to drink water that equals have your body weight.  Regular exercise will also help break down the formation of uric acid crystals and will also help flush out uric acid from the bloodstream.

Eating at least 5 fresh fruits and veggies daily will help in lowering your uric acid levels.  You might also want to try and eat cherries because of its anti-inflammatory properties and it also helps in reducing the level of uric acid in your blood stream.

Perhaps the best way in preventing gout is lowering your calorie and purines intake.  You should also prevent eating seafood.  Vegetables such as beans also produce high levels of uric acid so you might want to consider reducing your intake of these types of vegetables.
